Shri K. P. Umapathy Acharya is a hereditary Sthapati and a distinguished authority in traditional South Indian temple architecture and sculpture. Belonging to an uninterrupted lineage of Viswakarma sthapatis, his life and work embody the classical principles of Vedas, Śilpaśāstras, and Āgamas preserved and practiced as a living sacred discipline.

For more than four decades, he has dedicated himself to the preservation and transmission of authentic temple architectural knowledge, ensuring that sacred architecture remains not merely a historical art form, but a spiritually grounded, scripturally guided, and ritually consecrated practice.
His approach unites textual scholarship, traditional craftsmanship, and lived spiritual understanding—maintaining the integrity of sacred form in both conception and execution.
